July 2012 Favorites Part 2: Eyes & Lips

Revlon Custom Eyes Mascara

Bare Minerals Big & Bright Eyeliner in Midnight Moon

Revlon Custom Eyes Mascara
I found this mascara on clearance at Rite Aid and I'm glad I decided to give it a try!  The plastic bristles do a great job defining my lashes, making them look fuller but still natural enough for everyday wear.  There is a dial on the wand that you can turn to adjust the bristles. I didn't really notice a difference in application with a turn of the dial, but I really like this mascara none the less!  It lasts really well al day long without flaking or smudging.  On a couple very humid days over 100 degrees I had minimal smudging, but other than that it wore really well.  I recently spotted it at Big Lots for $3 and I picked up another one.
Bare Minerals Big & Bright Eyeliner in Midnight Moon
I actually used this every day this month and most days last month.  It is perfect for every day.  It is not as harsh looking as a pure black and it has a touch of sparkle, but it certainly does not look glittery. I lasts really well and I love that I don't need to sharpen it!

Revlon Wet/Dry Shadow in Gilded
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze
I love using this as a base for many different powder eye shadows. Sometimes I even wear it alone, but I prefer to layer it.  It adds depth to my shadows and really makes them last all day.  It is also so easy to apply and blend.  It has become a staple in my collection.

Revlon Wet/Dry Shadow in Gilded
Here is an oldie but a goodie :) I really don't know when I got this, but it was looong ago and I recently rediscovered it.  I was using it on my brow bone, but one day I layered it over Bad to the Bronze and I loved it!  It becomes a beautiful taupe and really brightens my eye area.

The upper left is Bad to the Bronze alone and the lower right is Gilded layered over Bad to the Bronze.  I don't know if Gilded is still available, but I think any creamy champagne colored shadow would look beautiful over Bad to the Bronze.

Favorite Lip Products
Sorry Guys, this hasn't changed much since my last favorites post!
Revlon Lip Butter - Strawberry Shortcake
I feel like so many pinks look funny on me, but this one is very wearable.  I love that color is a bit sheer and shiny.  I have been using this in the morning when I first put on my makeup and I just reapply gloss throughout the day.  I never like bringing my lipsticks out with me in the Summer because I am always afraid they will melt :/
E.L.F Plumping Lip Glaze - Baby Doll
I bought this a while ago and just rediscovered it in my stash. It looks nice over Strawberry Shortcake.  The E.L.F. website says that the color side adds a subtle plump and the clear side is a power plumper.  The "clear" side is not really clear.  It is a really sheer pearlescent white.  You can see that when you swatch it on your hand, but on your lips it does pretty much look clear.  You can really feel the plumping effect with the "clear" side.  It feels cold and tingly and I like it :) I didn't really find the color side to be plumping, but I do really like this lip gloss.  It feels moisturizing and not at all sticky.  You do have to reapply often, but come on, it is $1!
Pangea Organics: Lip Balm - Egyptian Fennel with Grapefruit & Sweet Orange
I got this in my first Birchbox and I have been loving it!  It feels really moisturizing and not at all waxy. I keep it on my nightstand and I have been using it every night.  You can Click Here to see everything I got in my April Birchbox.

  1. I'm always on the lookout for a good mascara that doesn't flake (makes my eyes water like crazy! seriously, they're about to water just thinking about it ;p), and since it's Revlon, I may even be able to find it here in HK. Thanks for the rec!
