Halloween Nail Art with China Glaze Orange You Hot? and Wet N Wild 9.0.2.1.Orange

 Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween! I'm staying in with Mr. BeautyScraps and watching scary movies so this festive mani is as dressed up as I'm getting :)

I used China Glaze Orange You Hot?, Wet N Wild 9.0.2.1.Orange, Wet N Wild Fergie Tonight's Going To Be A Good Night, Wet N Wild Black Creme, Art Club Black Striping polish and Diamond Dry... whew that's a lot for me!

 I wore 2 coats of Orange You Hot for 2 days before I had the time to jazz it up.  I was pleased to have really minimal tip wear!

 Then I added 9.0.2.1.Orange to all my nails to kick up the shimmer.  I stamped the Spider using Mash plate 38 and Black Creme.  I added 1 coat of Tonight's Going To Be A Good Night to my middle and pinky.  And, I *tried* to freehand a spiderweb on my ring finger and thumb using the Art Club Striper polish... eh. It is a little blobby.  My thumb actually came out better, but I forgot to take a photo of that, lol. Really, I swear!

Still, overall I am pleased with this mani.  It is super festive, fun and was easy, too!  Are you rocking a festive mani this Halloween? Leave a link below so I can check it out!

Go Pink Wednesday: Zoya Barbie Swatches

Ah, internet... how I love you so!  I have been without since Monday night when Sandy hit my area, but I'm back now and so lucky to not have the devastating damage that so many South of me did.  My sisters live in NYC and I was so scared for them!  They are all okay and I am tearing myself away from the news now so on to the polish :)

Happy Halloween! I'm going to try to post my Halloween mani later on, but now I have my last Go Pink Wednesday post!  I hope everyone had fun with our Pink Wednesdays and we helped raise Breast Cancer Awareness.  It is so important to take care of your self and be checked regularly.  I go for my annual exam every November, but I am guilty of not doing self exams monthly. So feel your boobies ladies!

This is 2 coats of Zoya Barbie.  It is a beautiful Barbie doll pink with a hint of shimmer.  You can only really see it shimmer in the sun, which hasn't been out here in over a week, so I included some photos with flash so you can see the shimmer a bit :)

It really is a pretty, girly pink and I think it suits my skin tone quite well.  This is definitely a polish I see myself reaching for again and again.  Zoya Barbie is joining China Glaze Dance Baby as my go to pinks :)

Trick or Treat? Kiss Halloween Nail Dress Review

 I was so excited to find these Limited Edition Kiss Nail Dress stickers in my Rite Aid. I am not the greatest when it comes to nail art and I never really have time for it either, so I thought these would be a quick, easy solution.  They are so festive!

 I love the spiderweb designs so I bought both and Mr. BeautyScraps picked out the neon skulls and bats :)

 You get 28 stickers in a variety of sizes on 3 different sheets.

 I love the glitter in the web and each sicker has a little rhinestone, too!

 And, here's where it started to fail... They looked okay at best.  I had some wrinkles on the tips and some on the sides, too.  It was hard to get them to lay flat around the rhinestone.  The strips were a bit thick and they didn't feel too secure.  I started to doubt the claim that they last "up to 10 days."

I had applied them at night and by the time I woke up in the morning, they were already lifting a bit by my cuticles.  The photo above was taken after 1 day of wear!  All of the bulges you see by my cuticles are because they completely lifted off and the tip wear! oh the tip wear :(  I think they meant to say that they last up to 1.0 days, not 10 days!  I was so disappointed in these that I returned the other 2 sets I got.  The designs were so cute, but they just did not hold up and they are not cheap! They were $6.99 a set!  

These looked so bad after 1 day and I couldn't wait to peel them off!  These might be fun to wear one night only, but I want to see the person that can wear these for 10 days!

Has anyone tried these before? Did you have better luck than me?

Go Pink Wednesday: Glitter Gradient with Revlon Cotton Candy and Wet N Wild Jewels for Your Highness

I'm fighting a bad cold, so this will be a quick post today. I just couldn't skip a Go Pink on Wednesday!

I used Revlon Cotton Candy, one of my favorite pinks :)  It is a scented polish, which I know bothers some people.  I could take it or leave it, but the formula is great and I love the soft pink color!

I wanted to spice it up a bit, so I added a bit of Wet N Wild Jewels for Your Highness.  I created the gradient using the regular polish brush.  I just made sure to wipe it off well so I didn't pick up too much polish at once.  Then I topped it all of with a coat of Diamond Dry top coat.

What do you think?  It is very fun, sparkly and girly, but now I am back to gray, lol.  I hope I feel better soon and get back to posting more!

Review: Sample Society box September 2012

Here is another late beauty box for your viewing pleasure :)  This is what I got in my September Sample Society Box from BeautyBar.com.

 This is everything, beautifully packaged as always.

 Here is a swatch of the Borghese Lip Gloss in Fiore and the Stila Smudge Stick in Black.  I was really happy with both of these.  I really like the texture of the lip gloss.  It was not sticky at all and the peachy, shimmery nude color is right up my alley.  The Stila Smudge Stick was smooth and very pigmented and lasted really well on me, too.

At first I was disappointed when I saw another fragrance sample, but I actually really liked the fragrance.  Unfortunately, the full size is $120. I will certainly enjoy using the sample of Diptyque Phylosykos Eau de Toilette, but I won't be purchasing the full size. Well, never say never, lol. I do really like it :)

I have not tried these 2 skincare items yet, but I am looking forward to trying them out. They are really generous sample sizes. Overall, I was extremely happy with my Sample Society Box this month.  It was a nice mix of skin care and cosmetics and I really liked all of the products that I tried.

Go Pink Wednesday: Funky French Ruffle

 I have some nail art for you today! Rare, I know :)  This is my very first Ruffle Mani so I thought I would keep it simple and just do the ruffle on my tips.

We are going pink on Wednesdays for Breast Cancer Awareness month and I wanted to add some purple because it is also Domestic Violence Awareness month.

I used Orly Decades of Dysfunction, China Glaze Dance Baby and Sephora by OPI Just a Little Dangerous.

I do not have dotting tools so I just used a bobby pin to create a row of dots to make the ruffle effect.  It is a little uneven, but I love how it turned out.  I really like the shimmer in Just a Little Dangerous.  It only showed up well in my first photo, though.

Review: IPSY aka Glambag September 2012

Sorry guys! I am so behind on life right now :( But, better late than never, right? So here is my September Glam Bag... or my IPSY bag?

I am not sure why this change occurred, but My Glam is now IPSY so you can now find them on IPSY.com

Here is the bag and a list of everything included. The bag was a plain black wristlet this month.  Nothing to get too excited about, but it is a bag I will use.  Probably as a makeup bag for my purse, though rather than an actual wristlet.

And, here are all the goodies!  I think my glam bag has really gotten a lot better in the last few months.  I hope this IPSY change brings even more improvements!

I was so happy to see another Circus polish!  I really liked my other 2 and I can't wait to wear this fuchsia!  Lots of cosmetics this month :)

I have not tried this yet, but my hair needs this right now so I was happy to see it included.  I will let you know how it works out.

This is a Mirabella eyeshadow pan in Semiformal.  It is a shimmery medium brown.  I think a universally flattering shade was a smart choice for glam bag.  I didn't mind that it was just in a pan because I recently bought a unii palette that I am so excited about!  Now I just need to find time to organize it :)

Sorry it is a little blurry, but look how pigmented! The new Jane glosses pack a lot of punch!  I think this will be gorgeous over a red lipstick.  

I was really happy with the choice of samples this month and the sizes of the samples.  I hope that the glam bags continue being this great with the change over to IPSY.  I heard that the October bag will be the first bag that is customized based on the profile quiz.  I can't wait to see what I get and it should be here soon :)

Go Pink Wednesday: Wet N Wild How I Met Your Magenta Swatches

This is 2 coats of How I Met Your Magenta.  I probably should have done 3, but I intended to do some nail art for this week's Go Pink Wednesday.  However, I ran out of time.  So, no nail art this week.  Next week I promise!

How I Met Your Magenta applied easily and dried quickly.  I did still have visible nail line at 2 coats, but it didn't really bother me.  I really like the color and I think this would make a gorgeous jelly sandwich!

Revlon Star of the Bazaar Swatches, Review and Comparison to October Julep Sabrina and Eloise

Every now and then Mr. BeautyScraps likes to surprise me with little polish presents.  It is really very sweet.  This time he brought home 2 of Revlon's Nail Art Break-up polish duos from the Fall 2012 Passage to India collection.  Today I wanted to show you the Star of the Bazaar duo because the orange shimmer crackle polish is very similar to Julep Sabrina that I showed you yesterday in my October Julep Maven post.

This is 3 coats of the gray polish from the Star of the Bazaar duo.  Ummm LOVE!  It is a gorgeous gun metal gray with an amazing shimmer.  In person the shimmer looks mostly blue and silver, but there is some sneaky holo shimmer in there too.  See it in the photo above?

I seriously need this in a full size polish! I love this gray!  The formula was great, too.  It was thin, but not streaky at all.

I wore the gray for a full day before I added the orange shimmer crackle.  Oh so shimmery! I really liked how this one cracked, too. The orange stayed really vibrant.

I actually wore this for 5 days when my October Julep Maven box arrived so I thought I would do a comparison before I took it off, so please excuse the tip wear :) It actually wore really well! Julep Eloise and Sabrina are the 2 on the left and Revlon Star of the Bazaar are the 2 on the right.

Obviously, the base colors are different, but the orange shimmer crackles are quite similar. Since I don't really think that one *needs* both, I would have to say that the Revlon is the winner for me.  The Revlon is more pigmented and has a chunkier crackle.  Because Julep Sabrina has a finer crackle you can see through to the base more.

Which do you prefer? Or are you just so over crackle?

haha, I know... I just can't seem to let crackle polishes go!

It is just so fun and easy for Halloween!  But, seriously you need to check out Star of the Bazaar for the gray side alone.  I am in love with it!

Julep Maven American Beauty Box October 2012 - Eloise and Sabrina Swatches and Review

 This month, I chose to receive the Julep Maven American Beauty Box.  I really wanted to try out the Quick Dry Polish Drops and these 2 colors really appealed to me.

 I know everyone seems to be over the crackle look, but I still really like it, especially for Halloween!  

This is what I saw when I opened my box.  Yum, I love candy corn!  I never buy a bag, though.  A whole bag is a bit much.  I feel like candy corn needs to find you and it usually finds me somehow :)

 Errr, from what I have seen on other blogs this was supposed to be a black glitter and an orange glitter, but I got 2 orange glitters.  Oh well, it was still a nice little extra :)

 This is 2 easy coats of Eloise.  I really love this color!

 I added 1 coat of Sabrina and it crackled nice and evenly.  I have used a few tricky, finicky crackles in my day so I was happy that this one was easy.  Nothing worse than applying a trouble crackle and ruining a perfectly good mani!

 I really like this combo.  I think Sabrina is really festive for October and Eloise will get lots of use this Fall and Winter!  Sabrina has so many possibilities for a quick, easy Halloween mani! I want to try it over white, black, green, purple... oh maybe a skittle mani!  I have not tried the Quick Dry Drops yet, but I will let you know how they are when I do :)
