Julep Maven Modern Beauty Box January 2014 - Farrah Silk Finish Polish Review and Swatches

For my first Julep Maven Box of 2014 I chose to get the Modern Beauty Box.  January's collection is called the Boudoir Collection and features polishes with a variety of finishes.  The Modern Beauty Box does not include and polishes, so I did order an add on, Farrah, which was featured in the It Girl Box this month.

This is everything included in the Modern Beauty Box this month.

and unboxed.

Ta Da! Quick Dry Drops
1 fl. oz. $14
With all of the matte, satin and silk polishes in this month's collection, it was smart of Julep to feature these quick dry drops.  It will not be replacing my quick dry top coats, but it is great to use with specialty finish polishes.  It does not dry as fast as my quick dry top coats, but it speeds up the dry time without effecting the polish's finish.

Vanish Cuticle Softener & Remover
1 fl. oz. $18
I was really surprised to love this!  I never seem to have good luck with cuticle softeners or removers.  It was really effective and easy to use.  It has a dropper in the lid and I put one drop on each nail, one hand at a time.  Then I ran the included orange stick gently over my cuticle area and the dead skin came off easily.  After I finished both hands, I washed my hands with soap and water and followed up with cuticle oil.  I will definitely repurchase this when I run out.  It is a bit pricey, but it is easy to use and it works so it is totally worth it!

Julep Essential Cuticle Oil
.28 fl. oz. $18
I love the packaging!  This little rollerball is going to be perfect for my purse.  I also really like the texture.  It is not a dry oil, but it does absorb fairly quickly so it really is great for on the go.  The only thing I'm not crazy about is the smell.  It is an herbal, lavender scent that is not bad, just not my favorite.

This is Farrah, a silk finish, icy lilac.  Farrah was included in the It Girl boxes this month, but I chose to get it as an add on.  It applied easily, with no dragging like I have experienced with other polishes with similar finishes.  Two coats gave perfect coverage.  I used the quick dry drops to speed up the dry time.  Still, it was probably dry to the touch after 5 minutes and still dent-able for about 15 minutes.  I really like the color and the finish so the longer than usual dry time was worth it.  What do you think of Farrah?
