Review: IPSY Glam Bag November 2013

I was really excited when I saw everything included in November's IPSY bag!  I have really been enjoying this subscription recently! For only $10 a month, they really pack in some great cosmetics and many of them are full sizes! This month everything included was full sized and I really liked the bag!

BH Cosmetics Galaxy Girl Baked Eyeshadow -  Asteroid
Full Palette from on sale for $14.95
This is what I love most about my monthly subscriptions.  I never would have tried this product.  I usually shy away from baked shadows and I never would have chosen this color for myself, but I love it!  Most baked shadows I have tried are not very pigmented and only give good color payoff when used wet, but this one is gorgeous dry!  The shadow applies evenly with no fallout and it lasts all day long without fading or creasing.  It is always hard for me to tell what the shadow will actually look like in these marbleized baked shadows and looking at it in the pan, I did not expect to love it.  When applied, the color is gorgeous and right up my alley! It blends to be a purple, silver, taupe sort of color.  I absolutely love colors like this and I have worn this several times since I received it.  I didn't see these individual shadows available from BH cosmetics, only the full palette of the whole collection.  But, for only $14.95 I may have to pick that up!

Starlooks Gem Eye Pencil - Topaz $14.00
This is the first item I have ever tried from Starlooks.  This eyeliner was okay.  I'm not really a silver eyeliner girl, but I gave it a try.  It was soft and easy to apply when I used it on my lower lash line.  When I tried it out on my lid I decided to blend it out, but it turns to glitter when blended.  I think I'll try using it as a base, but alone it is a bit too much for me.

em Michelle Phan Lash Gallery Lengthening Mascara - Black $20
Not impressed.  I have been on a good streak with new mascaras, but this one was just not good.  It made my lashes look okay.  My lashes were nicely separated and held their curl.  But, they were hard, crunchy lashes.  I couldn't stand the way this mascara made my lashes feel.  As far as wear, it was okay.  There was some minor flaking, but it held up okay throughout the day.  The worst part was removal.  It was very difficult to remove.  Rather than dissolving, the mascara came off in stringy clumps and pulled my eyelashes out with it.  Sadly, this one is going in the trash.  I don't know who would pay $20 for this.  Even if removal was easier, there are much better performing drugstore mascaras out there for far less money.

Pixi Beauty Bronzer - Subtly Suntouched -$18 with Brush
I love this bronzer, but I'm a little confused by it, too.  I have light-medium skin and as you can see above, this bronzer is very light.  Even for my skin tone I would say it is more of a highlighter.  Its peachy brown tone is a bit confusing too.  It lies somewhere in highlighter/blush/bronzer no mans land.  So I decided to stop trying to classify it and just wear it.  I applied it like a blush and it is gorgeous!  It gives a beautiful subtle hint of color and glow to my cheeks. It is subtle, but I love it.  Mr. BeautyScraps kept telling me how nice I looked the day I tried this.  So, it gets bonus points for that, too.  This is now my go-to blush/bronzer/highlighter whatever it is :)

Be a Bombshell Lip Crayon - Hot Damn - $14
This color is way too bright and bold for me, but I love the formula.  I am definitely excited to try out other colors!  I liked that it looks a bit shiny on my lips, but it feels dry enough that it will be long lasting.  I wouldn't say it is moisturizing, but I wouldn't call it drying either.  I keep trying to convince myself that I can pull off this color, but every time I put it on again I am reminded that I can not.  I might keep it around and try layering it.

Nailtini Straight Up Color Nail Laquer - Caviar Cocktail - $13
I have not worn this polish yet because I was wearing a similar color when I got my glam bag and I just didn't want to wear silver again.  But, I have received several Nailtini polishes in past glam bags and I'm always happy with their quality.  My only complaints are that the colors are pretty basic and while I love receiving nail polish often, I wish they would switch up the brands.  It would be nice to get more of a variety.

So, that was my November IPSY bag!

Bye Bye Loves: My Beauty Empties for November 2013

I emptied a decent amount of beauty products this month and many of them are favorites! Now I have to decide whether to try out some new things or stick with my tried and true favorites.   That's why I love empties posts.  You really have a good, strong opinion of a product after using it all up.

Bare Minerals Purifying Facial Cleanser - 6 fl.oz. $20
I love this cleanser so much! My all time favorite cleanser has been Philosophy's Purity, but I love this one even more!  It is so gentle feeling and still removes everything, even my eye makeup.  After cleansing my skin feels soft and smooth, never tight or dry - even in the dry winter months!  I still have other cleansers in my stash to work through, but I already repurchased this one.  I highly recommend checking it out.

Bare Minerals Original Foundation SPF15 - 8g/.28 oz. $27
More love for Bare Minerals! I have gone through many of these!  Most recently I have been mixing this sample of light with medium beige to get a better match for my more pale Fall/Winter complexion.  Some days I wear it alone, other days I wear it over a tinted moisturizer.  I always seem to come back to this powder.  It is easy to use, gives medium coverage and has a natural finish.

Zoya Remove+ Polish Remover - 2 fl.oz. $4.60
I got this little bottle of remover for free with one of my Zoya orders.  I can't believe I waited so long to try it out!  I don't care for the smell, but I have never used a remover that smelled good.  I have heard others describe the scent as lavender or baby powder, but I get licorice mixed with a regular nail polish remover smell.  Scent aside, I love this remover! It works really well, removing all of my polish easily, but still feels gentle on my skin.  The price for this size is a little crazy, but the larger sizes are much more reasonable.  The 8oz. size with the pump top is $9.99 and the 32oz. refill size is $25.  I plan to order the 8oz. size with the pump top with my next Zoya order.  This is definitely now my preferred remover.

LUSH Geo Phyzz Bath Bomb - 3.1 oz. $4.95
This bath bomb is described as having an uplifting pine scent and hawaiian salt and volcanic clay to relax and soothe sore muscles.  It was relaxing and soothing, but I didn't get too much of a specific pine scent.  I would call it a woodsy/herbal fragrance.  I loved that it completely dissolved and didn't leave a mess behind like some bath bombs do.  And, oddly enough, the green bath bombs always seem to be my favorite.  There is something about bathing in green water that I find appealing. Strange, I know.  This is one that I would repurchase.

Bath & Body Works/White Barn Candle - Applemint - 4 oz. $9.50

This candle was not one if my favorites.  I bought it on a clearance sale when this scent was discontinued to I guess I should have known.  The scent was just too faint for me.  It smelled okay when I sniffed it in the jar, but once it was burning it gave off very little fragrance.  I was disappointed because I usually love my Bath & Body Works candles!

That's all for now!
